Battery energy storage helps stabilise grid fluctuations and reduce electricity price volatility, enabling greater integration of renewables. These systems are central to Ireland's Climate Action Plan and 2030 targets, enhancing energy security and supporting the national grid's. Since 2020, Ireland has made impressive strides by connecting over one gigawatt (GW) of energy storage capacity to its electricity grid – a significant milestone on its path to generating 80% electricity from renewable sources such as wind and solar energy by 2030 and eventually achieving the net. Electricity storage, which entails capturing electricity produced at one time for future use, will be a key element in the successful operation of our electricity network and will accelerate our use of renewable electricity, providing cheaper, greener electricity to the consumer.
